What’s happening at ReBoot Co. now…

Thanks to your feedback, we’re continuing with the summary section!

Our Team Topologies work is in full swing. A new case study that Matthew Skelton will publish about one of my first TT approach clients will be coming on the TT website soon, and my blog Team Topologies from the Trenches has just been invited to feature there too — very flattering! We’re also opening early access sign-ups for the on-line Team Topologies Masterclass Matthew and I are building together — message me if you’d like to get on the list. And don’t forget that the new Team Topologies book launch is coming!

On the client front, Tony is consistently deep in transformation delivery, while I’m juggling multiple clients and what has become a big focus for me: leadership facilitation. What started as a one-off request a few years ago has grown into a steady stream of offsites, helping exec teams align on goals, gel as leaders, and sharpen their strategy — always with a good dose of “ways of working.” It’s challenging work, but hugely rewarding. If your leadership team could use that kind of boost, I’d love to talk.

Meanwhile, Tessiro had its own offsite recently (yes, I facilitated our own team — tricky but rewarding!). With our first beta wrapping up, we’re digesting the results, and as good product citizens investing “the smallest amount of work to learn the next most important thing.” And yes, there’s a bit of a pivot brewing that could make Tessiro even more valuable. If you’re curious about visualising team and organisational data, keep in touch — we’d love to share what’s next.

Finally, I’ve been going back through ReBoot Co.’s eight years of work and harvesting our learning assets such as training and workshops. For years, we’ve underplayed this part of our business outside of Agile Fundamentals, to keep it within client work, but that’s changing. The next release will be Product Development Fundamentals as a self-directed learning module — you can sign up here to be notified when it’s out.

That’s the wrap for now — thanks for being part of this growing community. If any of these threads spark your interest — Team Topologies, leadership facilitation, Tessiro, or learning modules — reach out, we’d love to connect.

Cheers,
Alex

Origin Stories…

Did you know the term “Scrum” came from a Harvard Business Review article (1986) by Hirotaka Takeuchi and Ikujiro Nonaka about product development at Honda, Canon, and Fuji-Xerox, describing small, cross-functional teams moving the ball downfield together. In the 1990s, Jeff Sutherland and Ken Schwaber applied that concept to software. You can read the original article “The New New Product Development Game” here! You might be surprised to read many of the ethos of Agile Software development approaches in such an early article, such as self organising teams and overlapping work.
