Since Covid-19 sent a lot of us to do our jobs on-line we’ve had a lot of time to adjust to life and work using the remote tools and techniques available to us. A frustration for me and other Agile coaches is the difficulty of translating what works as an in person game or simulation to an equivalent remote one.

Leaders of progressive companies know they are in a knowledge acquisition game. Smart organisations are in a race to skill up their knowledge workers on understanding their customers, which in turn enables them to become sources of value generation for their customers.

I have good intentions every year to read more for work, and by read I mean whole books. In our line of work it’s vital to keep up with new ideas, concepts, models and workplace trends. Like most people I become distracted by work, by activities of my family, the never ending busy-ness of life. I can usually fit in reading and writing some blogs, listening to podcasts and audio books at best. Holiday time is a time for slowness, deep reading, getting lost in books and lost in thought.

Alex spoke at Agile Aus Circles in August on the speed of adapting, a talk that built on a blog, born of a time in 2020 when the whole world was adapting at speed in the grip of Covid-19.

The lockdowns and necessity of remote working and remote schooling have given us a unique opportunity to reflect on how we handle massive and unavoidable change in our organisations and way of life.

It’s taken me more than two years to get to this entry about The Future of Work - How we Learn, and it’s been a fascinating thing to reflect on what has changed in the world since then.

Capturing the essence of something that is constantly changing and evolving into a document can be a folly, at times it feels like writing on a whiteboard is even too permanent for how fast ideas may be moving. Over time we often find that what we document begins to misrepresent the truth. 

We created this poster in response to the many frustrations we hear from our community and clients about how difficult it is to embed agility, adaptiveness and all the crucial elements that are needed to empower teams to deliver amazing outcomes for their businesses.
